December 2007 – Energy Performance of Buildings
Building owners will be required to obtain an Energy Performance Certificate before selling or letting a building.
All new buildings are required to meet minimum energy performance standards.
The Government is following an EU directive to introduce Energy Performance Certification for all buildings by the end of 2008. The timetable has already been put back due to concerns over a shortage of suitably qualified Energy Assessors.
